Kærlig Hilsen

Helloooooo Friends and Family!! <3

Things are going great here in Roskilde - we're looking forward to a great week full of awesome lessons with awesome people, and awesome members present! The people here in Roskilde are really so sweet, and I'm thankful for the opportunity to serve them :)

One thing I love about being a missionary is the amount of trust that these people give us- I really do feel like I'm living up to my calling as a Representative of Christ!! The people I am privelaged to interact with and teach all strengthen my testimony each time I am able to be with them. Their sincere desire to find and follow Christ help me continually strive to be the best missionary, member, and person I can be :)

One of the investigators that has been on my mind a lot this previous week is an Indian man named Vino. In our most recent lesson, he laid down all of his feelings of pretty much being forsaken, and how he really trusted us and our ability to help him strengthen and develop his Testimony in God again. I always love it when I can teach and strengthen someone, and just see the Holy Ghost working inside of them. One of the greatest joys I have had on the mission is just witnessing the words coming out of my face making an impact on those I am talking to!
We had another amazing experience of strengthening a member - Julie. We went over to her house to help her with some garden work. At the end of the service appoinment, Sister Noorda closed with a beautiful prayer, and then Julie asked if she could also say a prayer. The prayer she gave was one of the most wonderful utterances I have been privilaged to hear!! She really spoke from her heart and communed with our Father in Heaven. The Spirit was so strong, and I know without a doubt that prayer is real - We really do communicate with our Heavenly Father, and He communicates back to us through the thoughts and feelings that we are individually and uniquely able to receive. :)

Sister Noorda and I are doing great!! She is such a champ, and so quick on her bike!! hahaha, I'm still getting used to these long bike trips all over Roskilde, and she's just zooming by :) She's a great missionary, and I'm thankful for the wonderful opportunity I have to serve with her!!

My health is doing fine! I am still constantly having issues with my heart - I'll have a ''blip'' multiple times, every day now for the past few weeks. I'm keeping a record of every time it happens. We're still waiting on receiving my Yellow Card (a Danish medical card), so once we get that, I'll head in to the doctors and see if there's anything they can do, or anything I can do to help it. Haha, I haven't passed out yet or anything, so for the time being, I'm just keeping an eye on it, drinking a lot of water, and waiting on that yellow card!

I love you all!! Thank you so much for all the words of encouragement and love :D You're all amazing!! <3

sending my love your way in a little hot air balloon!! hahaha, nah, it was just a fun photo op!!

Singing, Raining, and Eating Cake

I actually don't have a lot of time to email today - hahaha, I got pretty distracted answering a ton of questions from my darling cousin Dane - He's coming here to Denmark!!! :D I'm so excited to see him here and serve with him the last 6 months of my mission!! :)
But before that happens, I've still got a long ways to go!! <3
The mission has been great this week!! It's amazing how quicky time flies by, and how much actually gets done in the short time you have! This past week, sister Noorda and I nearly doubled the amount off lessons we taught last week! Insane!! But super exciting!! :)
We met up again with a wonderful new investigator, I.R., and she's doing so well! She works as a nanny here in Denmark (something I would LOVE to do after my mission), and will actually be heading up to Norway (something else I would love to do) in a few months!! So I'm excited to see how much progress we can help her with while she's here :) While in a lesson, we were talking about the blessings we get from following Christ's example, and how much we love learning about Christ through reading the Scriptures, in the Book of Mormon and the Bible! We were able to give here a copy of the Book of Mormon in her own language, and when her employer asked her about the book, I.R. expressed from her heart how excited she is to read the book and recieve the answers she's been trying to recieve for a long time :) It was a touching moment, and the woman she is working for asked if I.R. would share with her the answers she finds, and she is considering having a copy of the Book of Mormon for herself :)
I love working with all the people here that I meet. I feel like each and every individual I have the opportunity to teach influences my life in many different ways! It's incredible! I only hope that I can have just as much of an impact on them as they have on me :) <3

Yesterday I was able to participate in a concert put on by the stake! It was a mini ''Music and the Spoken Word'' (like what the Mormon Tabernacle Choir does), but in Danish it was called ''Musik og det Talte Ord.'' :) Very exciting! I sang in the ward choir, and had a blast! We also got to hear music from Thomas Ambt Kofod, a Danish actor and singer, who is also a member :) He actually had the role of Christ in the old Bible films for ''The Testaments,'' so that was pretty neat :) I shook his hand and spoke in Danish with him!! hahaha, it was great!!

One bit of exciting adventure - we biked out to a members house to have a lesson, and the bikeride took about 45 minutes, mostly uphill. In the pouring rain. yeah, it wasn't really that fun! but we got there safely (and we haven't gotten sick yet!!), and then we just had to watch out and try not to step on all the giant snails and slugs that came out after the exciting weather!!

we got pretty wet, but at least the grass is green!! hahaha

We also had a great eating appointment with a Norwegian woman in our ward. Yesterday was a national holiday in Norway, so we wore the Norwegian flag in her home while there :) hahaha, it was great! And I absolutely love that I can understand what she says, even though she's speaking Norwegian! It takes a half second more to understand, but for the most part, it's a piece of cake - and we celebrated with one!! :D

Then we got lost in Copenhagen trying to get to the concert mentioned above - but we made it!
We got lost in Copenhagen again today as Sister Noorda and I tried making our way to an immigration center to renew my visa- but we made it and got it all taken care of!! Today marks 6 entire months of being here in Denmark!! I'm absolutely loving it!! <3

I'm excited to have another great week here with Sister Noorda :) we've had a blast so far!! I can't believe we're heading into the halfway mark of this transfer already! Time really does fly by too fast!!!

I hope you all have a great week!

MKH,

Dear Roskilde: I'm Not Dead Yet!!

Week one in Roskilde is complete!! And the pretty little city has failed in each attempt to get rid of me!! HA! Take that Denmark!
But it's actually going really well, in all honesty :) We just had an incredibly Fun/NotVeryFunInTheMoment moment!! Just imagine me  d y i n g  biking uphill e v e r y w h e r e  and then being super duper happy when we came to the top of a ginormous hill. Got that in your head? Great! Now (I'm going to make this just as dramatic as it really was)-  just picture me going over the top of the hill, wind in my face, I'm enjoying the beautiful scenery all aound, skirt secured for the descent, bike slowly turning up to gear 7 to get some good umph going downhill, and then

-BAM-

absolutely no tension on my pedals. And- these deligtful bikes we have don't have rear breaks on the handlebars, and- the bike I happen to have doesn't have front breaks in opperation. I look away from the pretty scenery and all of a sudden, nothing's really enjoyable anymore! Surprising, right?? The hill continued down for a long time, so I got some pretty good speed.
To make the experience even better, there was a stoplight in the middle of the hill, and it just turned red for my lane, and cars were already beginning to pass through the intersection. As I passed Sister Noorda (my companion of ONE day at this point), and then I go through the intersection. Luckily, I missed all the cars coming towards me, continued down the rest of the hill, found a field with a few sheep in it, cruised to a stop, hopped off the bike, and proceded to put the chain back on. Luckily, I didn't have any more problems with it the rest of the week, and yesterday, the elders helped me take a few links off of the chain, because it was actually too long! So!! That was exciting :)

Other than my (honestly) near death experience, I've had a really stellar week :) hahaha, the people here in Roskilde are great (actually, they're FANTASTIC!!), and I feel so privilaged to get to work with them :) I'm excited to continue working hard with Sister Noorda (what a doll), and have even more exciting stories to talk about :)

Mothers day was wonderful!! It was so nice to be able to talk to my family <3 But it was so weird switching back to Danish after it all wrapped up! But worry not! It's all there again! It really is an amazing thing to learn a new language! You don't realy realize the progress you make until you look back to special little points when you hit a milestone :) There's still so much more to learn, though, and I'm looking forward to it!

I just thought I'd share a quick scripture with you all - I read it this morning during personal study.
Alma 29:8-10

8 For behold, the Lord doth grant unto all nations, of their own nation and tongue, to teach his word, yea, in wisdom, all that he seeth fit that they should have; therefore we see that the Lord doth counsel in wisdom, according to that which is just and true.

9 I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

10 And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy; then do I remember what the Lord has done for me, yea, even that he hath heard my prayer; yea, then do I remember his merciful arm which he extended towards me.

I absolutely love being a missionary, and I am so thankful for this opportunity to be here to serve the people of Denmark! It has been an icredibly amazing experience to be here and meet so many fantastic people! I will always treasure this time I have here and now. I thank God for the beautiful message of the Restoration that I share with His children here around me :)

I love you all!!! and I hope you all have a fantastic week <3

the smolder

As the only two missionaries (out of six) leaving the Fredericia Ward, our friend Amir had to take this glorious image with us - If only I had gotten the memo to give the camera a smolder......

Somewhere Beyond the Sea

(in reference to the title) - Not really, but Kinda. In the sense that I'm no longer on Mainland Europe (whaaaaaaat), I am beyond the sea thanks to bridges and trusty under-water trains!! :)
so Transfers happened this morning!!!! Wahoo, and whudda-ya-know, I transferred!! I spent almost 6 months in Vejle, but here I am!- a new city!! :)
I'm in a Delightful little town called Roskilde, and -fun fact- it was Sister Woster's greenie area :) How sweet is that!!?? when we found out on Thursday, Sister Woster freaked out she was so happy, and she gave me the run-down (all the stuff that I hadn't already heard) about her beloved Roskilde :) And boy oh boy, I already love it :)

My new companion is sister Hannah Noorda, whom I actually already met and friended on Facebook before our missions :) We also had splits together my very first transfer! It's great to be back with this delightful little ray of sunshine, and this time, for a much longer time than 24 hours!! :) I'm excited to get this companionship going!! :)

But I guess I can't really say much about Roskilde yet, because I just got here - I can, however, say how much I loved being in Vejle for one last week :) We pretty much figured I would be heading out and going to a new part of the Land.
We were able to stop by so many lovely people I've worked with in the almost 6 months of being there. They're all great, and I just pray and hope that I was able to make some kind of impact on their lives! I will always remember them <3

Vejle had so many ups and downs while I was there! It was in Vejle that I was taught what it really means to be a missionary, and how I could acheive that - not only on the mission, but also how I can continue to be an example to those around me for the rest of my life! My two lovely companions, Sister Sorensen and Sister Woster, will always be thought of dearly - they taught me so much about myself and about the love they have for the Gospel and for Christ!! If I could only hope to be as slightly amazing as they are!! Keep doing well, my beloved Sisters!! :)

Denmark just keeps on surprising me with new beauty unfolding every day :) The springtime has the appearance of lovely yellow fields of flowers...........

and of course, the photographer in me couldn't help it. I had to get some pictures with it :) These are all thanks to the talented Elder Brady Eisert, who is on his way home from his mission this week!! Held og lykke, oh ha' det godt, god ven!!

I also got to feed some ducks on a whim! When a duck walks up to you, you can't help but share the (weird tasting European) Oreos in your bag (because they really taste too un-American to eat them yourself)!!

* * * * * * * * * * *

All in all, it was a great week, but I'm to much of an airhead to really remember anything that happened. But that's what we have journals for, right??? :) Right!!

I hope you all have a fantastic week!! I'll try to be more descriptive with the happenings in Denmark from now on!! Another week brings another opportunity to improve!!! :)

I love you all :) And have a fantastic Mothers Day!! <3
